I find the real problem before I design the fix.

I start by finding the actual problem, not the one written in the ticket. That usually means asking the uncomfortable questions early, while they're still cheap to answer. I run workshops when a team is stuck, keep the direction clear when it starts to drift, and push work forward instead of waiting for perfect certainty. I explore a few real options before I commit, then I commit.

Over that time I've shipped 15+ projects and taken 6 products from zero to launch.

AI does the first pass. The judgment stays mine.

ChatGPT is the AI I use most, alongside Claude and Claude Design depending on the stage of the work. I use ChatGPT to turn product requirements, research notes, stakeholder feedback, and rough ideas into a clearer problem space. Then I hand the same context to Claude as a second read: to challenge my reasoning, work through more context, and catch gaps or contradictions. For early design, I use Claude Design to turn an idea into a rough interface the team can react to.

This changed how I start. I no longer open a blank document and sort notes by hand, or build the first wireframes from scratch. AI does the first pass. I own the rest: validating the findings, prioritising the problems, and setting the direction.

One thing failed: asking AI to produce a whole product solution from a brief alone. It read well, but came out generic, too sure of itself, and blind to the real user, business, and technical constraints. So I let AI speed up synthesis, exploration, and iteration, and keep product judgment, collaboration, and user evidence with me and the team.

I take ownership and leave teams clearer than I found them.

I take ownership and I'm dependable. I care about the people around me as much as the work, and I'd rather have the honest conversation now than a polite one that costs the team a month. I balance speed with quality, and I try to leave a team clearer and calmer than I found it, able to make good decisions without me in the room.

I do my best work with teams that value directness, give designers real ownership of the problem, and actually care whether the end result works for the people using it.
